Thomas Jefferson High School Students Visit Barataria Preserve

Thomas Jefferson High School students braved cold temperatures to visit Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve - Barataria to study environmental science, chemistry, geo-caching, and park history. The Thomas Jefferson students are participating in a community partnership program between Jefferson Parish Public Schools and the National Park Service. Three classes of students are working on projects, incorporating technology, that the park will post on their website to help educate others about the park's environment, history, and surrounding area. Technology components include blogs, Google maps and documents, GPS, digital photography and video. The projects are planned to be completed at end close of the 2009-2010 school year.
