Students from four Jefferson Parish Public Schools discussed journalism careers with WDSU broadcaster, Scott Walker, and Harvard GSE Director and former Business Week bureau chief and correspondent, Bill Symonds.
The students participated in the discussion via video conference from four schools, while Bill Symonds joined via Skype from Harvard, with support from former Riverdale High School student, Danielle Hull, currently a freshman at Harvard.
The group discussed topics ranging from the impact of the Internet and technology on journalism; suggested topics and fields to study in college; what the work is like day to day in broadcast news and print journalism; and experiences that Bill and Scott have had and where they have lived.
